Understanding The Fuel Injection System

Vehicles and other types of machinery run on engines, and engines run on the fuels supplied to them. The way this fuel is provided is an essential process. This whole process of supplying fuel is controlled and managed with the help of fuel regulators. They are significant for engines and are manufactured in a very controlled environment. Any defect in these fuel injections will directly or indirectly affect the performance of the vehicle. The main work of the fuel injection system is to feed each cylinder with the fuel continuously. They feed the cylinders in every 4 seconds. They deliver the fuel to the high pressure by the multi-plunger pump fitted at the very end of any engine.

Types Of Fuel Injections 

The fuel injection system is placed at the center of the engine. It comprises of the fuel injection pump, high-pressure pipe, injection nozzle, feed pump, and fuel filter. There are four types of the fuel injection system, which are as follows:

1. Single point injection 

These were the earliest Fuel injection systems and had a single nozzle. They are less expensive, less complicated, and easy to service.

2. Port fuel injections 

These types of injections have a sperate vent to each cylinder. They are more précised and efficient than single point injections in terms of functioning.

3. Sequential fuel injection 

They are also known as sequential port injections or timed injections. They are also multiport injection. They are much more improved then the above two injections.

4. Direct injections

It is exceptionally advanced technology and takes the entire concept of fuel injection to another level. They inject the fuel directly into the combustion chambers. These are found widely in diesel engines but are now also being used in gasoline engines. They are also called a DIG in direct injection gasoline. In these injections, fuel metering is also much précised than the rest of the system.
